Toy à sua espera “toda a noite” nos Prazeres

A promessa é de beijar, abraçar e outras que tais na noite deste sábado, dia 21, no Mercado dos Prazeres.

Numa organização da Câmara Municipal da Calheta, a grande Noite do Mercado acontece daqui a umas horas, naquela freguesia, com o cantor de “Coração Não Tem Idade (Vou Beijar)” a animar as hostes a partir das 22h30.

Antes disso, porém, há vários motivos para ali chegar a partir das 19 horas, pois está prevista a atuação de vários grupos musicais, enquanto prova uma das muitas iguarias que ali vão ser servidas.

A venda de produtos hortícolas e frutícolas começa, no entanto, às 18 horas no Mercado Abastecedor, para quem quiser aproveitar ao máximo o final deste dia.

Lido weathered stormy night

After a night of stormy sea on the south side of Madeira, the Lido seems to have survived the onslaught of the waves – it looks as solid as it was when completed, a few months ago.

The video shows how strong the waves are, and the fact that one of the most important leisure complexes of the city has weathered the storm, even during high tide. Many people, amongst them many tourists, were watching the storm, a rarity in Madeira’s south coast.

“Bright lights, big city”

Yesterday the Christmas lights were lit in Funchal. For the first few hours of the night, and despite the rain, hundreds of cars came down on the city to “see the lights” (a very Madeiran thing…), a ritual that would traditionally take place only after December 8th.

For those who opted to go out and see the lights, the colouful show, though only half ready, wasn’t a waste of time and effort, also because rua João de Deus – despite progress – is still there for those who still prefer the old traditional light bulbs.

City council had a façade as never before, and the tree in the Funchal seafront was also a show stopper.

But more than the lights, and spectacular though they are, what we wanted to show you was a video of the traffic – self explanatory, and   also a sign of the success that the night in which the city is lit still is…

World Enduro in Machico

Machico is already part of the world enduro bicycle championship calendar. The town will receive, next May 13th and 14th the third stage of the Enduro World Series, which will bring to the island hundreds of people accompanying the sport’s world championship, made out of seven different stages and a grand final.
