Counter returns to Cidade do Açucar after seven years

The Cidade do Açucar museum will on Friday receive its “last exhibit”, presented to the public at 18h00 during a talk entitled “Piece by piece we rehabilitate our heritage: the return of a counter a scriptorium”. Some of the museums exhibits were heavily damaged during the floods of 2010, with some pieces disappearing.

The item to be returned, entitled “counter”, was created in northern Europe workshops in the end of the 16^th century and is part of the Funchal city council collection. Its complexity, in terms of materials and techniques employed, made its recovery slow and complicated.
