O Funchal beneficiou bastante com a criação de um centro de informação turística adicional, contribuindo decisivamente para a imagem de uma cidade acolhedora e hospitaleira, que recebe com excelência todos aqueles que nos visitam”.
Ao longo dos oito meses que se passaram, e tendo em conta os cerca de dez mil visitantes por mês, em média, foi possível desenhar um perfil do visitante: 45% destes têm entre 41 e 64 anos, e 30% uma idade igual ou superior a 65 anos. Há uma maior incidência de turistas de nacionalidade inglesa (38%) e alemã (17%) no Funchal, bem como de visitantes oriundos de países do Norte da Europa (8% em conjunto). De entre os inquiridos, 90% viajam acompanhados, fazendo-se deslocar predominantemente através de meios aéreos, e permanecem na ilha entre 4 a 7 dias (47%) ou por períodos superiores a uma semana (34%).
Da cidade destacam a simpatia das pessoas, a diversidade da cultura, a gastronomia e a natureza, indicadores importantes no sentido de continuar a diferenciar o Funchal no mercado turístico internacional.
No posto de turismo foram atendidas pessoas de 49 nacionalidades distintas.
