Porto Santo elders visit the mainland

Until February 10th he council is taking names for a trip to mainland Portugal organized by the Porto Santo council.

This trip, designed for seniors, will take place between March 18th and 25th, and those interested have but to be residents in Porto Santo, and that they enroll until the given deadline.

The trip is limited to 54 people, amongst the elderly themselves and those that accompany them, and is the forge for various months, the aim of the council being promoting the social welfare of the elderly population and promote the active aging, as a means of preventing/reducing the phenomena of poverty and social exclusion, promoting socializing, strengthening personal relationships and the knowledge of other places, its cultures, habits and traditions.

The council also knows that a major part of the council’s population is elderly, and thus more vulnerable to economic d social hardship.

More: Filipe Menezes de Oliveira and his team also know that, due to the geographical constraints the island is bound to and the weak economic resources of the inhabitants, many amongst the elderly has never left the archipelago.

The trip is being offered to all those over 60 years old residing in Porto Santo that fulfil the criteria set by the Porto Santo council.
