This was a different morning in the Funchal city council.

The mayor, Paulo Cafofo, opened the doors of the formal hall of the council to receive a number of youth, sons and daughters of Portuguese emigrants in France, who are visiting Madeira.

In a visit dedicated to “culture and history” of Funchal, this was a rare opportunity for the youngsters to get a detailed briefing on the building where most of the services run by Madeira’s most populous council operate from, with the briefing being conducted by the mayor.

Paulo Cafofo presented the efforts that have been made the council in the domains of culture and tourism, and stressed the importance, socio-economic but also affective, of the Madeiran communities living abroad.
