The German magazine Festival Guide Magazine recently gave MADEIRADiG the title as one of the ten best winter festivals in Europe.
The news was well received by the organization of the estival, the oldest electronic and experimental music festival in Portugal. Madeira, and especially the western half of the island, that receives the festival, are attracting more and more northern Europeans that enjoy these types of music, also because it can offer, even in December – the month in which the festival takes place – days of sun and gentle temperatures. In the article of Festival Guide Magazine MADEIRADiG is actually the first of ten events liested, also stressing the natural beauty of the island and its landscapes as an excellent complement to the sensitive delights generated by the four days of festival.
The stages of MADEIRADiG have already received some of the best known musicians in the electronic and experimental types throughout the world, like Ben Frost, William Basinski, Supersilent, Alva Noto or Tony Conrad, who passed away early in 2016.
For this year’s edition, there will names like Zeena Parkins and Sonic Boom, amongst others.
If you are one of the aficionados who don’t want to miss the events, tickets for this year’s edition are on sale at the festival website, at www.madeiradig.com, and will later be made available at the reception of Estalagem da Ponta do Sol and at Mudas – Museu de Arte Contemporanea da Madeira. Prices remain unchanged, at 50 euro for a four days pass and 15 euro for the daily tickets. There are special discounts for students, <21 years and >65, with prices dropping to 40 and 12 euro, respectively.
