O antigo presidente da Câmara Municipal de Machico, Bernardo Martins, lança este sábado, dia 29, pelas 18 horas, o livro resultante da sua tese de Mestrado.
A obra, intitulada “25 de Abril em Machico: Centro de Informação Popular 1974-75”, vai ser apresentada no Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho e destaca o período conturbado da história portuguesa vivido naquele concelho. Desde que se afastou a da política ativa que o ex-autarca se tem dedicado aos estudos, tendo este livro sido o resultado da tese de Mestrado que defendeu na Faculdade de Artes e Humanidades da Universidade da Madeira.
Segundo o autor, o Centro de Informação Popular de Machico tem um papel preponderante no documento que retrata aquele ano agitado naquela parte da ilha, pois contribuiu para a expansão dos ideais da revolução.
